TYPE OF INCIDENT:                                    Manslaughter            

           

CASE NUMBER:                                          06-16452

 

DATE/TIME OF INCIDENT:             090506 @ 7:05 p.m.

 

LOCATION OF OCCURRENCE:               Vilas/Highway 62

 

 

Medford Police responded to Vilas/Highway 62 on the listed date and time for the report of a traffic crash.  Investigators found the suspect vehicle had been traveling southbound on Highway 62, left the roadway and struck a bicyclist.  The suspect vehicle was disabled in the accident and the two occupants fled on foot.  Medford Police, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police responded to the scene.  Medford Police canine, Rudi, tracked the two suspects approximately ½ mile before locating them hiding in bushes at Peace Lane/Vilas.  

 

Suspect Driver:         FERNANDO SANCHEZ-LLAMAS, dob/040284

                                    628 Palm Street, Medford

 

Sanchez-Llamas was arrested and lodged at the Jackson County Jail on the following charges:

 

                                    MANSLAUGHTER

                                    HIT/RUN – INJURY

                                                           

                                    TOTAL BAIL:                       $1,010,000.00

 

The victim, Fred Wyatt dob/081453, was transported to a local hospital and succumbed to his injuries early this morning.

 

 This investigation is continuing and has been forwarded to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office.
